223 - Being noisy while I'm blogging

I'm writing this post to the sound of Santana's Nothing At All. Not that it isn't great, but it pretty much distracted me so much as I was trying to type what I originally wanted to type. I'm sitting in a computer room here at university, because my laptop hasn't been working for the past few days. This computer room is so great because the lights are always on, the internet access is free, there are no restrictions on online games or anything, and it's always very peaceful and quiet...

...between the hours of 10pm and 6am.

At 6am, the cleaner lady comes along, and I don't know what she's doing, but she makes a lot of noise for something like six hours non-stop. She's always pushing the vacuum cleaner with wheels around, or her little trolley thing that holds her brooms and mops and cleaning stuff, and it rattles inside the trolley, and it feels like she's cleaning the place again and again and again and again. After noon, it's then around ten hours of students coming in and out, talking on their phones, talking to each other, grumbling in frustration at their computers, stomping, coughing, sneezing, ruffling through their bags...

...and I can't bloody concentrate on my blogging during these hours. And right now, this doofus two rows in front of me thinks it's cool to play music loudly. What if I was to watch my American Idol episodes loudly, huh? It's not fair.

Okay, it's Santana, but even though it's good taste, I can't concentrate in the presence of any noise. I just can't.

There are also two guys seated on my right that are chatting about cars. One guy appreciates Lambourghinis for their design, but prefers Ferraris as it suits his personality. The other guy's favorite brand is the Maserati.

If you ask me, my favorite brand of car is Shutthehellup. I can't blog properly, damn it!

135 - When people in the real-life read my blog

I know they're there everyday. Sometimes, I think they deliberately anger me just to see how dramatic they can make me. Sometimes, I write posts that concern them and I can just feel their eyes on my back as I'm writing. Maybe I don't hate them for reading my blog. Maybe I hate myself for fundamentally giving this blog to my family and my friends in the first place. Maybe I should start a totally new one and tell nobody in my real-life about it. But now that my blogs have become so widely read, I'm sure they'll be able to find the new one somehow, some day, anyway. And I don't want to leave this blog, this name... Do you hate it too? is the perfect title.

Does this ever happen to anybody else? Is your blog affected by the people in the real world?

103 - Following tons of blogs that you don't read

So, this weekend, I tried to limit the number of blogs I follow because I realized that I wasn't actually reading some of them. I followed some that haven't been updated in a long time, I followed some that I wasn't interested in, I followed some just because they followed me. It got to be so much that every time I went to my Dashboard, the long list of posts would make blogging a hassle, a time-devouring endeavor and a bore. It totally turned me off reading other people's blogs in the past two weeks, and yesterday, it sort of worried me because I once proclaimed to the world that I was a loyal, dedicated blogger. I have Nymphoblogmania.

I think that I quite like the list I have now, so for those of you who made the cut, congratulations. Hail To The Thief, a blogger whose entries I really appreciate, did a post a few weeks back on how she selects which blogs to follow. I try to follow pretty much the same principles, and I encourage all of you to go check those out and actually try to follow them. The people who follow so many blogs but never read them or comment on them can be quite annoying. What's the point, you know?

I know I haven't been visiting a lot of your blogs lately, but hopefully, I'll be in full throttle again by next weekend. I've realized that in addition to Nymphoblogmania, I have Obsessive Compulsive Blogging Syndrome, too. My grades have been slipping, I'm not doing my homework on time, and yesterday, I conjured up a schedule for me to follow that includes sleep, work, some free time and time for blogging. It's my attempt to sort myself out and manage all my priorities. I start this new regime tomorrow, I'm very excited about it and I hope it works.

But yes, with this new schedule, I've included time to blog each day, so I'll be stopping by your blogs soon.

Does it annoy you to go to people's profiles to find a MASSIVE list of blogs they're following?

97 - Procrastination

That's it, I've spent a whole week of Chinese New Year holiday doing absolutely nothing and tonight, Sunday night, it is going to kick my fattest body part (i.e., my bumbum).

I have spent the last few hours Facebooking, going on CNN News, watching TV series and movies on my laptop and blogging. I initially put my laptop on my desk for once, instead of next to my pillow, so that I wouldn't lie there slothfully like I have for the past few days. It hasn't gone well because there are just so many things to distract myself with on the computer.

Throughout this whole thing, I've been turning my head and glancing at the books, files and paper piled up on the bed next to me, and every time I take a look at the amount of work I have to do, I have a tiny panic attack, then I sigh. I just did it again, oh, my God, it's dreadful.

So, in an attempt to reduce distractions, I've exited my Gmail Notifier, so that I don't get told that I have people on Facebook to talk to, and blogs to comment on. I'm going to rely on myself to stop watching stuff while I'm working, and I'm turning off my phone, and hiding my iPod and my Nintendo DS. I need to concentrate.

I hate going to school and seeing my friends struggle with all the work they have to do. They ask for extensions from the teachers, and calling it by a fancy-pants name like 'extension' doesn't make it sound any more like responsible action, it doesn't make it sound any more mature. I feel sorry for my teachers, who have to deal with this kind of thing for hundreds of students every year. I feel sorry for all the students who are ruining their lives being late, handing in rushed work and all. I have another point to add to this, but it's too much to talk about now, I'll post about it in the next few days.

Which brings me to my end-point: I will not be visiting your blogs in the next few days, you can expect the daily post on Do you hate it too? But that's it. It's nearly the end of the year, and I have a lot to do, but I'll be here on Wednesday or Thursday night to check back with all you lovely people who write so incredibly well.

Procrastination: Don't you just absolutely hate it when it gnaws at your fat butt?!

35 - 'Bad' blogging

After being here for around a month, I've accumulated a list of some of the things that bug me about other bloggers and their blogs. I'm not naming names here. Oh, but I know I am certainly guilty of some of them myself (I've placed an asterisk beside each of the crimes I'm guilty of committing...)

*1. Bloggers who pride themselves in having a daily blog, but don't actually produce something everyday on time or at all. The same goes for weekly, bi-weekly and monthly blogs.
*2. Blog posts that include excuses for not blogging earlier or at all.
3. Bloggers who act but don't react. They have their own blogs, but they never read anybody else's and don't reply to other people's comments.
4. Bloggers who react but rarely act. They comment on other people's blogs but never produce anything themselves.
5. Bloggers who do nothing but rant but not in an amusing way.
6.
Bloggers whose blogs comprise boring details of their personal life.
7. Bloggers who refer to 'posts' or 'entries' as 'blogs'. Not the same thing, people.
8. Bloggers who appear to believe in quantity over quality.
*9. Bloggers who behave like Nazis and tell others how they should blog or feel they have the right to criticize other people's blogs. Blogging is a personal thing and there is no 'correct' or 'proper' way to do it.
10. Bloggers who have a 'theme' or a 'niche' but disappoint their fans every one in a while by not following it.
*11. Bloggers who tag others in memes and do memes.
12. Bloggers
who have too much crap in their sidebars that it makes a page load really slowly for less advanced computers.
13. Bloggers
who don't enable comments.
14. Bloggers
who don't comment.
15. blgrs hu coment n blog lik dis. God, at least use English like you learned something in school.
16. Bloggers who like to link others to other people's blogs.
17. Bloggers who always blog about blogging.
*18. Bloggers who take pride in having a lot of viewers/followers. (Blogging is about 70% ego, 25% poorly expressed thoughts and 5% interesting content)
*19. Bloggers who always advertise their own blog.
*20. Bloggers who make very little changes to the templates Blogger provide us with.
21. Commenters who make interesting comments but don't have their own blogs with their own thoughts for interested readers to read.
22. Religious blogs - that bring condemnation to others!
23. Bloggers who don't have a display picture.
*24. Bloggers who have display pictures that don't really let others see what they look like.
25. Bloggers who post broken links and don't doublecheck.
26. Bloggers who have bad spelling and don't spellcheck.
27. Bloggers whose grammar is so awful that it's just not understandable.
28. Bloggers whose grammar is simply bad.
*29. Bloggers who post Youtube videos created by other people.
30. Bloggers who publish really, really, really long posts.

Speaking of long posts, you know what? This list can go on forever. Perhaps I'll do a second one on this particular subject in the future, but here are thirty of to begin with.

What about you? What about other bloggers and blogs is annoying for you?
