132 - People who exclaim, "I'm soooooo nerdy!"

"Oh, my gosh, I'm soooooo nerdy!"
"Why do I even remember these things?!"
"Okay, I'm gonna just shut up now, I don't even know how I know that."
"Whoa, where did that come from?"

I hate people who are always declaring their geekiness in this fake-ashamed voice, like we're all still in primary school and it's social suicide to be nerdy, even when we, the growing generation, know that education is important in today's world, and even though we know that it is fine, and even cool and impressive perhaps, to be quick-witted and knowledgeable when we grow up. School's a competition, a contest, a race. We don't need you to run into the tape at the finish line, then reject the gold medal when you rightfully deserve it. I would much rather be around someone who is vain, than someone who is modest.

No, scratch that, because that's just the thing. Modest people are better than you, too, because you're not really modest. We all know that secretly, you're pretty fucking proud of yourself about whatever it is that supposedly indicates nerdiness. We know you're just full of glee because you knew something all of us didn't.

So, please, don't play cute with me. Nobody needs that, and I hate it.

I have a friend who always says that she's a geek. But not in an ashamed way; she declares it loudly and proudly. Or something. But that's also irritating after a while, trust me. We get it. You think you're a geek and you love it. Now please let's move on.

I sometimes think that people who make a point of saying they're sooooooooo nerdy are trying to seek attention and have others point out that in fact they're not nerdy - they're just incredibly smart or something.

Hell, if I "was" a geek, I sure as hell wouldn't be telling the world about it, I'd hope that they just didn't notice; or at least form their own stupid opinions.

Old saying "Be quiet, it's better to be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt."

I hear ya ... it's almost like fishing for praise.

Example: I need to loose wieght, I am such a pig (knowing that you are thin as a rod!!).....just so you can hear the obvoius response ..."no your not, you so skinny"

Ahhhhhhhh ........ gets on my last nerve!

Okay, I'm a genius. Ill-disguised maybe, but a genius nonetheless. And you need my on your quiz team. Because I'm fab. I love knowing stuff other people don't.

Say it loud, say it proud.

Larissa: I think labeling yourself at all is annoying. And repetitively proclaiming anything gets annoying, too. Argh.

Vivienne: Ah, yes. Attention is exactly their agenda.

AV: Wise.

Christine: Excellent one.

Madame DeFarge: Do you find trivia useless? I absolutely don't, but my friend disagrees.

It's a different sitch in our class. There is this one girl sitting behind me who speaks in tiny childish voice when saying "I'm soooooo stupid!". She thinks it's cute? I find it incredibly stupid.

Ah, so yeah, she's right!
