135 - When people in the real-life read my blog

I know they're there everyday. Sometimes, I think they deliberately anger me just to see how dramatic they can make me. Sometimes, I write posts that concern them and I can just feel their eyes on my back as I'm writing. Maybe I don't hate them for reading my blog. Maybe I hate myself for fundamentally giving this blog to my family and my friends in the first place. Maybe I should start a totally new one and tell nobody in my real-life about it. But now that my blogs have become so widely read, I'm sure they'll be able to find the new one somehow, some day, anyway. And I don't want to leave this blog, this name... Do you hate it too? is the perfect title.

Does this ever happen to anybody else? Is your blog affected by the people in the real world?

NOPE!!! This is mine, all mine. My husband does not even know about this.
There is just some things that we should have to ourselves. This is how I choose to indulge away from family and friends.
BTW: If you do go somewhere else …. I would probably follow …. BUT, I like what you have already. Its good …. Its not broken ….. So I ask humbly of you …. Please don’t take this one down.

I would never, ever take this one down. Not soon anyway. I will continue hating things for years to come.

I admit that having people I know IRL read my blog, does put a damper on some of my best ideas for blog posting as I don't want to really piss off or hurt anyone. What really weired me out is that my daughter's MIL found my blog and sent me an email. Puts a whole new spin on ackward family get togethers.

Some people in 'real' life read it, but in my job, you have to be careful what you say, hence being anonymous as much as possible. You are rather more open than I would ever be, but we all blog for different reasons and part of mine is to be seen for what I write, not what I look like or other real life stuff..

No. Bella and I blog together and are the only real people who read each others blog in that sense. We wanted to be able to write whatever we wanted without fear of retribution from people we know. It's sort of our release.

Michael, Sometimes I regret having let my two adult daughters have access to my blog but they say it's a way to know more about what really goes on in my mind.
I do not share my blog with any of my co-workers though because they're a rather stuffy bunch for the most part and they really don't know the real side of me. Professionally, I have to act rather serious and put together so my blog gives me a chance to act out a little.

Haha! I remember the "library" incident... Well as soon as I graduate I'll repost those things again.

None of my friends know that I have a blog; there are some positives and negatives to this... but I mostly know that if people I knew read my posts, I'd think way more before writing anything.

Having people in my real life read my blog sucks at times. Sometimes it sucks really bad. It means that I don't get to say whatever I want in fear of having someone I know read it and get offended.

But at the same time, it's easier to get some feelings expressed to people I know without having to directly tell them, which is really nice.

I can imagine that being annoying.
No one in my real life reads my blog - or at least not that I'm aware of.
I told a friend or two about it but they're not really bothered so I think I'm safe. Never really write about them either though!

Chris O: I actually think I gave it to my family and friends in an attempt to encourage myself to be honest all the time. In a way, they know me better through my blogs, and in a way, I trust them more in real life.

Madame DeFarge: Understandable, and respectable.

Frankie: I wonder how it is between you, though. But I guess it promotes honesty between you two, right?

gaf85: Parents/children is the trickiest part of this for me. It is weird to have your folks read it...

Ares: I don't think the librarian read it. She's not that bright.

Eura: None? Not even a best friend?

Randa: Yeah, it has its ups and downs.

Vivienne: I know people are reading my blog. But they don't tell me. THAT's annoying.

But Michael, being honest and open is not always the way to go. I feel the need to withhold information from those I know just because it won't add value to the relationship or situation. People don't need to know the "real" me in my blog. I just really want to entertain, like a laptop comic. I often miss my mark tho.

I have a link to Blogger on my MySpace page, and I have several RL friends there. But no one I see on a daily basis (aka family) knows about it. It's my guilty pleasure.

I've had it affect a few people. My Dad started reading my blogs recently, so I have to be mindful of that so I don't post anything I don't want him knowing. Oddly enough, there's things I'm sure I'd be ok with the rest of the world knowing, but not my parents. Is that weird?

Other than that, I used to get a lot of compliments for my old MySpace blogs from my coworkers at my old job. That was kind of nice I guess. It sounds kind of... petty?... but I'd rather have their comments in writing under my blog. Is that SO much to ask?!
