232 - Dislike of rice
In my life, I've only ever met two people that actually said, 'I don't like rice.' When I hear this sentence, there are three things that tend to go through my mind very quickly:
1. The biggest export of the Phillipines is rice.
2. China consumes and produces more rice than India and Indonesia combined.
3. I am Filipino-Chinese.
I have probably eaten more grains of rice than there are people in the world. I don't understand what there is not to like. It's a staple food, just as potatoes are to the Irish, just as yams are to the Central Africans. Apparently, this peculiar disfavor may be due to the granularity of it. Small particulates bother people because they don't feel wholesome, they remind one of tiny insects or bacterium. Lots of tiny little things going into one's mouth... IS disturbing...
Some people also say that rice and couscous and similar foods make them choke easily. Yeah, that doesn't make you sound stupid at all. Others say they never know how long to cook it for. That doesn't sound cretinous either.
Another reason people tried to justify their dislike of rice was that it was difficult to finish it all, in that they couldn't possibly get every grain of rice off the plate. They're using spoons and forks, and are apparently people of modern civilized origin, so it amazes me that they are unable to clear the plate with the silver cutlery they are so accustomed to, solely because the foodstuffs are small. They guffaw as some rice is still leftover on their china and say, 'Imagine if I was using chopsticks instead!'
Ha. Ha. Ha.

224 - Hating things "with a passion"
What does "I hate calculus with a passion" even mean?
If by passion, you mean intense hatred - abhorrence so strong you want to crucify it (as in the Passion of Jesus Christ) - then you're just really weird, because as we all know, you cannot kill calculus by nailing it to a cross. What - you're going to hammer a couple of integration questions to a crucifix and stand it up atop a hill?
I don't think so.
You can't simply just say "I hate maths", full-stop? What's wrong with just saying "I hate maths"?
You're pretty much undermining the word hate... You're saying that the word hate is not good enough for you, it does not fully articulate the vehemence you experience. I personally think that the word hate works fine on its own. There's no need for the addition of such nonsense to emphasize. I hate the phrase "with a passion", with a passion!

207 - When people make the world revolve around me
My closest friends will tell you that I hate it when people always ask me how I am and what's up with me. They will tell you that I reckon my mother and my father and the rest of my family do it too often. My friends will tell you that my acquaintances don't know that it annoys me. They will tell you that sometimes even they, themselves, forget that I don't like revealing that much about myself when we're having a conversation. I just find it annoying when people ask me about me too much. If I wanted to talk to them about something, I would talk to them about it, right?
But I really don't blame them for asking about me. They're just expressing their care for me and want updates on my life. I blame myself mostly for this annoyance. I blame me for putting myself into situations that warrant people's attentions - it is a constant struggle to balance: doing what I want in front of others, while also conveying that I would like my own secrets, private life and alone time. My mother knows that struggle all too well with me, my father would drink to that privacy, and my friends would tell you that achieving that balance with me is one of the keys to being my friend. I prefer solving problems myself - unless I can't really help it. That includes sorting out my own time, money, relationships with people, and my own emotions.
So, please, my readers, I must make something very clear. I do not request advisement of any kind on this blog. I am no longer the bad-tempered kid I was a year ago that needs counsel. I don't need advice on how to tackle this problem or that, how to survive the meaningless chat when running into acquaintances or how to keep my chin up when someone ruins my day. Your encouragement is not needed here. Your questions of concern, I will not answer. All the personal stuff is what my other blog is for - in that blog, is where I have my space to be egotistical, and where I would appreciate kind words.
This is for you. To make you laugh, to make you empathize, to make you hit the surface of your desk in agreement and go, "Man, that irritates me, as well!"
I'm asking you, do you hate it too? Don't you hate it too when people make the world revolve around you?
I find it a little bit funny that by asking you that question, it then kind of makes the world revolve around you... and so if you do concur and do hate it too, then I would effectively be doing the very same thing we both hate, in the very same post. Hmm...

146 - When someone thinks they're better than you
I hate this, whether it means they think they're smarter, richer, kinder, fitter, faster, cooler, prettier, or more popular, courteous, verbose, moral, loyal, rational, adaptable, experienced, balanced, or correct. To think you're on a "higher level" is nothing short of arrogant; to advertise this exact self-image is just abhorrent.
Benjamin Franklin said: "To be humble to superiors is duty, to equals courtesy, to inferiors nobleness." People with a strong ego scoff behind the authoritarians' backs, look down on, and patronize, their equals, and treat their subordinates like they're scum, or non-existent.
And it's most detestable when such conceit is observed in the people you love. I just... I don't even want to think about it anymore.

119 - Hateful people
When I first created this blog, I was positively filled with ideas, since I found myself shaking my head in frustration whenever I came across any flaw that belonged to the individuals in society that just piss me and a lot of other people off everyday by simply existing because of how mind-numbingly stupid they are, how much slower and more painful they make our days, and how damn angry and lost they made me feel thanks to the fact that it is the people in society, today and everyday, that irk us on the streets, in our restaurants, at school and in the office, at home and everywhere else, but ironically, are also the same people, and the same society, that hold us responsible for being civil, polite and accepting around others.
Over the past four months, I have grown a little tired of this to be honest. I find that people aren't as annoying as I thought they were, and as I have more time to reflect on my own behavior now that I don't focus on that of others, I become aware of a lot of my own flaws.
And I think it's for my own good. I have flaws, a lot of them, and my time on this blog has shown me that other people aren't that bad, and from the mixed feedback I get, with comments like, "That doesn't bug me so much" or "I have grown used to this" or "I completely disagree with you on this one", I find that complaining about things like what I have complained about isn't necessary, and isn't necessarily humorous. I mean, being hateful is a pretty stupid, senseless, dim-witted, annoying, ridiculous, laughable and mindless thing to do, too, don't you think?
To my fans, don't worry, I'll still keep posting. I love doing it, for people's entertainment, for myself to vent. Trust me, I can find a lot of other pet peeves, superficial and serious, to rave about for another couple of years.
But one of the things I really hate is, in fact, being around people who are hateful. Someone once told me that this is the most ironic thing I could possibly talk about on my blog, but I think I've touched on it before, when I talk about people who disrespect others, people who are argumentative, people who hold grudges, because those are the various ways in which people can show/express their hate.
Undoubtedly, you've heard of the phrase 'everyone's a critic'.
But there's never a need to judge someone negatively (in their face or not). It's mean. It doesn't better anybody's day. And who are you to be so high and mighty, better and holier than everyone else?
I'm aware that I'm digging my own grave, planting my own crucifix, and paying for my own funeral.
But I'm just saying, I hate people who hate. I'm allowed to be a hypocrite on this.
...right?

100 - Holding grudges
It's my 100th post, people, and I am quite happy to profess that.
Today, I will be talking about people that hold grudges. Personally, I hate them, I hate them a lot. If I had to rank everything I've talked about so far, this would be in the top ten. In my life, there are four people who have a grudge against me. They hang up as soon as they hear my voice on the phone, they ignore me at school and in social arenas, they block me online and do not, under any circumstances, respond to your text messages, e-mails or even verbal communication. If you live far away from each other, and don't work with them everyday, it's highly likely that you won't ever see them again. If that's not the case, it's awkward whenever you're forced to be around each other.
This keeping-in-mind of who has a grudge on me wracks my brains painfully. It annoys me throughout the day if they're there right in front of me, refusing to acknowledge me in any way whatsoever. It gets on my nerves for years, wondering how what was once an okay relationship turned into a relationship I wish never sparked so that I wouldn't have to go through what I'm going through now.
The four people ignore me for different reasons, some valid, some not so much. In chronological order, those reasons are: homophobic, fed up with someone that lies as much as I do, I didn't take someone's serious insecurities seriously, and as for the last one, well, I don't really know.
For the first one, being homophobic perturbs me about people. The second one annoyed me and I ignored him, my bad. For the second and third ones, I said sorry, but they don't seem to care. For the fourth one, perhaps I shall talk about him a bit more on my other blog...
Whatever the problem is, though, getting the answers to why people were ignoring me was like pulling teeth out. I dislike that bit the most. I wish people would just talk, and tell me what is it about me that's bothering them. Honesty is always the best policy for me, even if it's ugly, even if it's hurtful.
It's no wonder I'm such an ass to so many people, doubly. On one hand, I'm the one going around criticizing people (even though I have the intention of helping them change for the better). On the second (but equally unsympathetic) hand, I'm also the one that will never change for the better because I have no idea what's wrong with me.

19 - Wearing Crocs
I hate Crocs.They're hideous.
They're not as comfortable as people say they are, not comfy enough to compensate for their ugliness.
As much as air is allowed to pass through them, they still stink of feet.
The strap is pathetically insecure and poorly designed.
They're not suitable for when it rains and your feet get cold in the wintertime.
I hate seeing pictures of the Croc-pile (as pictured) and I hate that they come in an array of the brightest, most obscene colors.
Elderly people and young children are tricked into wearing them, by middle-aged people that are blind to the horrible offense Crocs cause against fashion.
I've never worn them and I never will. If they're nothing but an atrocity to the eyes, I can't imagine myself being able to bear wearing them on my own two feet. Yeuck.

0 - Introduction
So, here is how it works.
Every day, I will discuss one thing that I consider a nuisance to me. In the space of a single post each day, I will talk about one thing that I see as illogical, irrational, redundant, over-the-top, petty, nonsensical, stupid and/or downright irritating.
Sometimes, my posts will be exaggerated. Sometimes, they will be relatable. At times, my points will consist of one of my own pet peeves. And at other times, my arguments will concern something that is simply annoying to any sane and sensible person. The important thing I want to stress implicitly is that all of my entries are subjective. This is extremely crucial for I mean no offense.
I mean, all of us have bad habits; Hell, I have a lot of bad habits myself. Feel free to criticize my views. Rest assured, this blog is not a childish rant. This blog is not written in anger or in envy toward others, nor is it an escape from a miserable life. This is all written with good intentions and done all in good fun. It's funny, really. And clever. I swear. Just keep reading and you may very well find something that you agree with.
I understand that people don’t always need to be aware of their unhealthy behavioral tendencies. I certainly don’t think of myself as a high and mighty social expert, a dictator that can force the world to act and think more practically, sensibly and wisely. However, my aim is to merely increase people’s attentiveness toward their own demeanor, as well as that of others, so as to help inject some sense into society, sense that seems to be so lost nowadays in a world where matters and situations are dealt with, I find, much too carelessly and clumsily.
With that being said, I'd like to finally mention that I hope this turns out into something great and entertaining. Let us rejoice in the sanctity of hate. Don't worry about seeming hateful. You're not a terrible person for having problems with the foolish deeds of others. You're merely being observant and critical and you know those are good qualities. Share your daily annoyances, relieve yourself of your vexation and tell me, do you hate it too?
