66 - Saying 'you know'

She wants to be appointed to elective office based upon her father's mythic reputation. She doesn't really want to campaign for the position but is being forced to do so. She'll probably get it, my cynical mind tells me. But, if not, I predict she will not run for the seat in the next election. People say the US is a democratic republic but we have our aristocracy too.

Sorry, I know that wasn't your point... you know?

You know your politics. I don't know much. I wonder if there's a blog out there that aims to teach those in need about politics... It would be very educational for me. I will go searching for one.

Happy New Year, let's hope this will be a better one.
I grew up in Massachusetts which is Kennedy Country. There are many who have blind worship to the family yet are aware of every scandal. Many homes have pictures in their homes memorializing JFK and also "Bobby".
It does not surprise me that the name recognition and the fact she was the daughter of a president might get her the position.
You may find my recent post on Politicizing The Presidency touches on a similar theme.

You know, she'll probably get Hillary's seat, because you know, she's JFK's daughter and you know that's the way politics is, you know. You know, I don't mind Caroline but I don't live in New York and you know I don't care if she gets it. What can I say? I live in Chicago, you know and most of our politicians are corrupt, you know.
You know?

With the way things have ended (I've listed them out to you on a comment on your blog), 2009 can only get better, I believe/hope.

Douglas, who commented earlier, has a post here that stresses people are not thinking for themselves nowadays, let alone thinking at all. By the mere recognition of the name? Not a valid reason to nominate/award someone with the position.

Marcy: You know, I think Obama is, you know, being clear (Obama's tagline) about wanting, you know, Hilary Clinton to be the, you know, Secretary of State. His decision is, you know, adament. Politics requires, you know, a lot of, you know, brainpower.

Wow that's really obnoxious. There's this girl I have the unfortunate pleasure of knowing who ends most "insightful" sentences with, "Ya know what I mean?"

I want to smack her more than usual when she says that.

Michael said...

Prash: I, you know, thank you.

Phil: That is disturbing... Argh, you know what I mean?... I hate that. It's quite a poor method of reassuring yourself that people are listening to you.
