94 - Self-proclaimed maturity

A definite sign of someone not being mature is when they start to get cocky and pompous, proclaiming to everyone around them that they are mature, the golden rule of thumb is: your maturity is for others to judge. Arrogance only negates the wisdom we once thought you had. You cannot say you're mature, and automatically make yourself mature, because if things worked that way, I'm King of the World.

You cannot say your ideas are more original and unique than others, you cannot tell people that you know more in life, none of us can treat her like she's just an inadequate female, you don't treat him like he's an equal, we are all just slaves to you, you think you're selfless but, again, that's not for you to judge, you believe you are kind, warm and caring, but that is for us, each and everyone of us to decide. They're your so-called 'qualities', we are the ones who call you so.

And just for your information, you are not the only one, you are not as original, experienced, adequate, open-minded, selfless or caring as you think you are, at least, in my eyes. It's for others to judge, so save it, you proud, stubborn boy.

Well said Michael, well said. You might be pissed right now, you probably still are (maybe?) but I couldn't agree with you more. People: stop wearing tshirts that say "I'm the bomb" or "I'm so sexy". If you are the bomb, if you are sexy, let OTHERS be the judge. If everyone took into account self-claimed titles, then I'd be the Lion King.
That was an awesome post.

I hate it when people have to out do you...

There's only 1 thing I brag about - how many surgeries I've had. Mostly because I'm pretty sure I'll win that contest. lol!

My brother brags that's he "worked with" this-or-that celebrity. He's a waiter by trade who hasn't worked in 2 years. Yeah, that something to be overly proud of. ; )

Haha Jane's comment is priceless. I can smell the "pissed attitude" from miles away but I agree: people need to stop giving themselves titles. It reminds me of Idi Amin and the way he proclaimed he was "The Last King of Scotland".
No dude, you're President of Uganda.

Sigh. Nothing feels like a good rant.

Can I please borrow this, verbatim? I think it might come in handy once in a while. Or like every day.

Firstly, why would someone wish to be mature? I'm fine being a kid.

Secondly, let's make this hypothetical. If I were to think I'm better than everyone, and not impose it upon anyone else, really, then what's the problem?
There's a difference between being proud and being vain.

I'd appreciate it if you cleared that up for me.

It's as bad as self-proclaimation of being funny. Um... or maybe worse.

Vivienne: People who don't know how to be humble deserve to be treated harshly.

Linda: Hah! About your family, that sounds amusing. Sorry if it really isn't meant to be.

Jane: Glad to know you liked it. I'll stop by your blog later.

AV: A good one. I will get to that some day...

J.J.: That is cool, actually, J.J. You need to earn your right to brag, but it's generally not nice unless you know others will not be impressed or won't want to listen.

JoJO a.: Nothing does.

Cat: Take it, take it!

Ares: That is a good one, I'll get to blogging about that in the future.

Broken Wings,

Most people take maturity to be a good quality, as it implies one is responsible and 'gives a damn about serious stuff'. I think it is fine for you if you are happy being a kid. Some people just need to realize that they are kids, and should stop trying to appear older for they will fail.

You make an interesting distinction in your hypothesis. For me, (although others might disagree,) I think we can all genuinely think that we're better than everybody else. I find most people already think that way anyway.

Someone once told me that you can do whatever you want, think whatever you want, as long as you don't hurt others. I believe it.

Hope that was good.
